There was a small pause.

And then a small light.

This time only the watch reappeared.

Candy was confused for a moment. Then her confusion gave way to tiredness and indifference and she caught a cab home.

Edna and Herbert were left alone in the pad.

Herbert picked up the watch. "What do you think?"

"I think it's been a bore of a Friday night. No dancing."

"Yeah – all this time travel talk ruined it."

Another small pause.

"I think tomorrow he’ll call us and laugh," said Edna hopefully.

"I don’t think so. I don’t think there is a tomorrow."

Edna and Herbert looked at each other, then at the watch, and knew there was only one way to correct everything. The watch had to go.
